Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, features 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
