Cambodia Gambling Dens

by Noel on Oct.07, 2023, under Casino

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where casino wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that features many luxuries on top of the gambling den, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
