There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous amenities on top of the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
